sibo the engineer program

Sibo the Engineer is a program that aims to raise interest in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields amongst children by creating inclusive and diverse STEM content for young children aged 8–12 years. It was inspired by a children’s book series called Sibo the Engineer that was written to spark young children’s attention and provide them with a foundational grasp of the STEM fields. The names, locations, and processes in the books are localized so that children can easily identify with the profession. The book series is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for young children while also teaching them key concepts in the STEM fields. The books follow Sibo as she learns about engineering work and how it solves problems and assists the community. Through her adventures, children are exposed to different aspects of civil engineering. For children to have more hands-on learning, the Sibo the Engineer program has real-world activities in relation to STEM, such as the animation of the Sibo the Civil Engineer book, site visits, and virtual reality tours of engineering sites.
